Who We Are

We are a married couple who love God and who love the Bible.  We have chosen the pen names Vera and Phil Philologus, because the name Vera comes from the word for truth, and Philologus means to love the Word. 

We also love science and reason and archaeology and comparing religious beliefs, and reading, and listening to intriguing questions.

We are old enough to know that this life is short and eternity is long.  So the most important pursuit is the pursuit of truths that reach into eternity.

We believe the search for those truths requires more than sound bites--or sermons.  That search is a lifelong engagement of the heart and mind.  To some degree, the website is a chronicle of our pursuit thus far.  We hope you will join us on this path.   The path is both challenging and enriching for the soul.
